We love to visit this winery and tasting room in The Barlow mainly to see our dear friend and winemaker Rosalind Reynolds of Emme Wines (say hi to her at the wedding!) This is a great starting spot for exploring The Barlow, and a perfect place to taste local wines.
You will undoubtedly get lost inside of this massive thrift store - don't panic. If we can't afford to go shopping, we still love to come here just to look at all the kooky, funky things.
A great spot in The Barlow for tasting a huge variety of wines from local winemakers. The bartenders are kind and funny and more than happy to show you around, so don't be afraid to ask!
If I (Morgaine) could eat here everyday, I would. Unfortunately I would die penniless. But If I spent my entire fortune on these barbecued oysters, I would be happy. If you have the time, please go here! In addition to the barbecued oysters, the sandwiches and ice cream are heavenly. Don't forget to buy some beef jerky to take home, or to bring us as a wedding present.
What more do we need to say...it's a goat sanctuary. Don't go here if you hate cute things and are allergic to fun.
A beautiful place to kayak in the Russian River, right at the mouth of the Pacific Ocean and the Jenner Seal Nursery. If you're lucky you'll get up close and personal with some of these stunning creatures!
This is the best place to observe the Jenner harbor seal rest place. Walk to the furthest end of the beach where the mouth of the Russian River meets the ocean, and you will see an abundance of adorable seals swimming and sunning their buns.
This dive bar and pool hall hosts a rotating pop-up of local chefs. Come for a cheap beer and an amazing meal, leave charmed and satisfied.
A beautiful coastal trail that's suitable for all levels. This is a very special place for the two of us, and we know when you visit, you'll understand why.
The crab sandwiches here are filled to the brim. Don't worry about the line, it moves quick enough! Instead of sitting at the tables, bring your sandwiches up to Bodega Head and look at the ocean while you take your first bite.
We both plan on getting ready for the wedding at this spa, and you probably should too. Book far in advance to make sure you get a spot! They are known for their one of a kind cedar enzyme bath, where you're buried up to your neck in fermenting wood. If it sounds weird, that's because it is, but it's also strangely relaxing and amazing for your skin.
A local cash only spot that's perfect for a burger and cold drink. We love stopping here to fuel up on the way to a wine tasting or hike.
A chill spot to hang out along the Russian River on a sunny day. Check out the entire town of Guerneville for a very charming taste of the redwoods, and Johnson's Beach offers kayak and canoe rentals.
The cutest little spot for breakfast in the adorable town of Occidental.
The perfect introduction to California's famous redwoods. Easily marked footpaths guide you through this spectacular forest. Don't worry about needing fancy hiking gear, this is a simple day trip that you can take at your own pace.
